Bloomberg’s U.S. Operations Awarded WindMade Label
Today, we are pleased to announce that we are the first news organization in the world to receive the WindMade label, a global consumer label for companies that use wind energy and other renewable energy sources.
The label, which is backed by the UN Global Compact and conservation group WWF, requires participating companies to obtain at least 25% of their electricity from wind power. Bloomberg’s U.S. operations, however, achieves a much higher share, with 58% of the operations’ power consumption covered by wind power, and a further 25% by biomass.
We have more than 15,000 employees in 192 locations worldwide so we certainly recognize the environmental, social and economic impact of carbon emissions. We’ve worked hard to reduce carbon, help set standards, buy renewable products and services and encourage disclosure and promotion of clean technologies.
Not only does the label demonstrate our commitment to renewable energy, it provides consumers with the choice to favor companies and products using wind power.
